Experience Authentic Agikuyu Culture

Welcome to Mathingira Cultural Centre, where tradition comes alive through storytelling, music, dance, and authentic Gikuyu hospitality.

Book Your Visit

Welcome to Mathingira

Your experience begins at Mathingira gate, a traditional Agikuyu homestead set amid indigenous trees, with a panoramic view of the source of the Nairobi River.

You're welcomed with a warm greeting in the Gikuyu language, a sip of authentic traditional Gikuyu brew (Muratina), and a cleansing handwash ritual using scented herbal water.

Our centre is led by local Agikuyu families, ensuring a culturally respectful and immersive experience that combines food, music, storytelling, and traditions.
